Tether recently helped the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recover $10,000 CAD in stolen cryptocurrency. Collaborating with the OPP’s Cyber Investigations Team, Tether froze the stolen USDT, allowing the assets to be returned to their rightful owner. Detective Staff Sergeant Addison Hunter commended Tether’s cooperation, describing it as vital for the recovery.
Tether has positioned itself as a strong partner for law enforcement worldwide, having assisted over 195 agencies across 48 countries. Additionally, on November 8, Tether completed its first investment in Middle Eastern crude oil, signaling the company’s expansion beyond crypto.
On the U.S. legal front, Tether denied recent claims of being under investigation for anti-money-laundering violations. CEO Paolo Ardoino dismissed the reports as “old noise,” affirming there’s no indication of an investigation.
