Bitcoin Joins The Guinness Book Of World Records

Several cryptocurrency achievements were added to the Guinness Book of World Records. In particular, the first cryptocurrency Bitcoin received its honorary page. BTC was recognized as the most expensive crypto-asset with a market capitalization of $816.69 billion as of March 24, 2022, and it was also named the world’s first decentralized cryptocurrency.

The record was achieved as CryptoPunk token #5822 was purchased for $23.7 million, or 8,000 ether, on February 12 this year by entrepreneur Deepak Taplia.

El Salvador, in turn, was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first country to accept Bitcoin as legal tender.

“We will be watching the cryptocurrency space with interest over the next few years as the technology behind cryptocurrency evolves and finds a wider range of applications,” the Record Book Committee said.
